happier ever after

Happily ever after? Isn't that the
airily never fairy tale let down that
past overt set down left you to drown
given over to the boredrum of 
living forever in frozen animation? 

setting aside the invisible avalanche 
of broken promises backfilled by the
inevitable gaslighting punctuated by the
inward silences for years till the final byword.

afterwards amongst the rubble,
that's me a scrabbling 
self pebbling 
stepping beyond 
each struggle 
but always happier ever after.
